Five new modern bungalows have been built in Umuahia South and Obingwa LGAs of Abia state for widows and indigent persons by the wife of the Governor of Abia State Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu. While commissioning the buildings Mrs.Ikpeazu said that the decision to build the houses was in fulfillment of her covenant with God to use her office and touch lives positively a d she used the opportunity to call on public spirited individuals and those in authority to use their wealth in affecting lives.
The family you see in this picture used to live in the shack (or what is left of it) on the floor. They are a family of 8, their living condition can be hard to imagine. Their story is similar to more than 30 other families that have benefited from Vicar Hope Foundation (VHF) shelter intervention scheme for the indigent and widows. Vicar Hope Foundation is a not-for-profit organization founded by the wife the The Executive Governor of Abia State Deaconess Nkechi Ikpeazu.
The benefiting family were so happy as they also received bags of rice, gallon of groundnut oil including other food items, cash and wrapper.
